Livingstone continues to strengthen its position as one of Southern Africa’s most dynamic tourism hubs with the launch of a refined new evening experience on the Zambezi River.

The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa has officially introduced the Lady Livingstone Dinner Cruise, a premium three-hour experience that combines fine dining, sunset scenery and warm Zambian hospitality into a seamless evening on the water.
Honoured guests included Rodney Sikumba, Minister of Tourism; Frank Tayali, Minister of Transport & Logistics; and Constance N. Muleabai, Mayor of Livingstone. Africa’s Eden was privileged to be on board for the maiden voyage, and the experience delivered on every level. From the moment of departure, the atmosphere struck a careful balance between relaxed elegance and authentic sense of place. The food, wine pairing and overall ambience were exceptional, creating a product that feels both elevated and deeply rooted in the destination.
The dinner cruise offers a five-course plated menu, with thoughtfully paired beverages, served in an intimate lower-deck setting. Seasonal departures run from 17:00 to 20:00 in summer and 16:30 to 19:30 in winter, with capacity ranging from two to 60 guests.
A standout feature is the menu itself, which confidently showcases Zambian ingredients through a contemporary lens. Drawing inspiration from traditional food and the broader flavours of traditional foods of Southern Africa, the menu reimagines local cuisine with a refined, modern approach. Dishes such as lemongrass-cured tilapia carpaccio, seared beef fillet with munkoyo-lime reduction and a mabisi panna cotta with lime sorbet highlight local flavours in a way that feels both innovative and accessible. The elevation of traditional ingredients is a particular strength, and one that sets this experience apart.
The launch builds on the success of the lodge’s Breakfast Cruises introduced earlier this year and complements the established Sunset Cruises, which will continue to operate on alternate days. Together, these experiences now offer travellers multiple ways to engage with the Zambezi across different times of day.
More broadly, the introduction of the Lady Livingstone Dinner Cruise reflects a shift in traveller expectations. There is growing demand for experiences that go beyond sightseeing, offering meaningful connections between place, cuisine and culture. This new product speaks directly to that demand, while also extending activity in Livingstone into the evening.
For the destination, this is a significant addition. The cruise not only enhances the premium offering in Livingstone but also provides a compelling, bookable evening activity that adds depth to itineraries and encourages longer stays.
The experience is priced at USD 120 per person and includes transfers from Livingstone lodges and hotels, a five-course dinner and beverages. National park and wildlife fees are charged separately at USD 10 per person.
