Pangolin Photo Safaris has removed single supplements for solo guests at Pangolin Chobe Hotel on new bookings for travel from 2026–2028, making its immersive Botswana wildlife photography safaris more accessible to independent travellers.
Pangolin Photo Safaris has announced that it will waive single-supplement charges for solo travellers staying at the Pangolin Chobe Hotel on all new bookings for travel in 2026, 2027 and 2028.
The new policy responds to the continued growth of experiential solo travel and the increasing number of guests choosing to travel independently in pursuit of more focused and personalised safari experiences.
“We’ve seen a significant increase in solo guests who are not just ticking off a safari, but coming specifically to deepen their wildlife photography skills and connect with like-minded people,” says Gerhard “Guts” Swanepoel, Co-Founder of Pangolin Photo Safaris.
“Waiving the single supplement at the Pangolin Chobe Hotel is our way of recognising their commitment and making it even easier to say yes to a dedicated photographic safari in Botswana.”
Under the new policy, solo travellers booking a three-night package at the Pangolin Chobe Hotel will pay the same per-person rate as guests sharing, with no additional single supplement. The offer applies to new reservations made through authorised travel trade partners, subject to availability and standard booking conditions.
Solo travel is an increasingly important segment of the tourism market, particularly among guests looking for experiences built around their individual interests.
“Solo travellers should not be overlooked or treated as an afterthought,” says Jillian Blackbeard, CEO of Africa’s Eden. “They are often highly engaged travellers who want meaningful experiences, expert guidance and opportunities to connect with people who share their interests. The tourism industry needs to look carefully at how products are priced, packaged and hosted so that travelling alone does not automatically mean paying more or feeling excluded. Pangolin’s decision is a strong example of how operators can respond to the changing needs of today’s traveller.”
Pangolin Chobe Hotel’s combination of shared activities, communal dining and a relaxed, club-like atmosphere makes it particularly well suited to independent travellers. Guests can take part in twice-daily photographic safaris aboard custom-designed boats and vehicles, while professional photo hosts provide hands-on tuition throughout their stay.
High-quality camera equipment is also available for guests to use at no additional cost, making the experience accessible to those who may be interested in wildlife photography but have not yet invested in their own equipment.
“Surprisingly, nearly 40% of our clients arrive at the hotel without a camera, wanting to give wildlife photography a go for the first time,” adds Swanepoel. “Within a couple of days, we are able to teach people the basics of wildlife photography to a point where they’re taking amazing photographs that they will treasure forever.”
