New Edelweiss Flights to Namibia Set to Boost Regional Tourism

Africa’s Eden is thrilled to welcome the announcement by Edelweiss Air that it will begin direct flights from Zurich to Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, from June 2026. Operating twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays with the state-of-the-art Airbus A350, this seasonal route will run through to the end of October and significantly enhance long-haul access to Southern Africa.

Known for its dramatic deserts, expansive national parks, and warm hospitality, Namibia is one of the most visually compelling destinations in Africa’s Eden. Visitors arriving via Edelweiss can explore world-renowned locations such as Etosha National Park, the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei, and the Skeleton Coast from the gateway city of Windhoek.

Jillian Blackbeard, CEO of Africa’s Eden, welcomed the announcement:

"Improved air access is fundamental to unlocking the tourism potential of our region. Each new route opens doors for more visitors, and more tourism employment. We’re excited to see Edelweiss connecting travellers directly to Namibia, which is a fantastic launchpad for regional travel. We look forward to building new partnerships and showcasing the magic of our destinations to even more global audiences."

The route to Windhoek expands Edelweiss’s Southern Africa footprint, which already includes flights to Cape Town, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar. It’s another encouraging sign that interest in Africa’s southern destinations continues to grow, especially among European travellers seeking nature, adventure, and meaningful travel experiences.

Tickets for the Zurich–Windhoek route are already available through flyedelweiss.com and affiliated travel channels.
