For travel professionals looking to elevate their guests’ experience while supporting meaningful community impact, there’s a new must-visit stop in Livingstone. WAYAWAYA handmade in Zambia welcome you to their new boutique, located opposite Falls Park Shopping Centre, and it’s more than just a shop.

WAYAWAYA is part of the Zambian Artisan Association for Women, an NGO dedicated to empowering female artisans through sustainable training, employment and skills development. Each item in the boutique is crafted by hand in Livingstone, blending traditional Zambian skill with contemporary Nordic design. The result is a collection that speaks to discerning travellers seeking something authentic, luxurious, and deeply connected to Zambia’s cultural fabric.

This new boutique isn’t just about handcrafted products, it has been thoughtfully designed with the travel trade in mind. The name WAYAWAYA means the art of wasting time, a concept embraced in the boutique’s atmosphere. Guests are encouraged to slow down, browse at leisure, and savour the luxury of a shopping experience that is unhurried, personal, and immersive. Lodges, DMCs, and travel agents can partner with WAYAWAYA in three distinct ways: through wholesale supply, stocking products in their gift shops or lodges; via commission on guest purchases at the boutique; and by offering guests a range of activities, events, and creative workshops beyond the store itself.

“We want to create partnerships that go beyond business”

The boutique’s location makes it ideal for guest visits, close to lodges, attractions, and the airport, and open Monday to Friday 09:00–16:45 and Saturday 09:00–13:00, with flexible openings available by arrangement for private shopping and events. Inside, visitors are welcomed into a curated space where they can watch the artisans at work, discover the story behind each product, and even commission bespoke pieces.

For the travel trade, the benefits are twofold. Guests enjoy an exclusive, high-quality shopping experience that enhances their time in Livingstone, while each purchase directly supports the livelihoods of Zambian women. This makes the experience not just a transaction, but a tangible contribution to the local community and an authentic story for guests to take home.

“We want to create partnerships that go beyond business,” says Iris, Founder of WAYAWAYA. “When guests visit our boutique, they leave with something truly unique, and they leave knowing they’ve helped empower women in Zambia and our trade partners play a vital role in making that connection happen.”

WAYAWAYA is already building strong relationships with lodges and tour operators across Zambia and the wider Africa’s Eden region. The boutique launch marks the start of an exciting phase of growth, with plans to expand both product ranges and partnership opportunities in the coming year.
