Sediba Sa Rona

Sediba Sa Rona is primed to be one of the most spectacular properties in the Khwai Concession—what we call “the meeting point of iconic ecosystems”.

A PARTNERSHIP THAT EMPOWERS:

Desert & Delta Safaris have partnered with the 100% citizen-owned Savanna Expeditions to breathe new life into the Khwai region by reviving and honouring the legacy of one of Botswana’s first exclusive photographic safari lodges, Khwai River Lodge.

Fully operated and managed by Desert & Delta Safaris, Sediba Sa Rona will uphold our renowned standards of excellence in all areas of operations

SUSTAINABLE STAND OUT:

Sediba Sa Rona (meaning “Our Source of Water”) is an ode to the Khwai River and truly encapsulates the spirit of this exceptional journey. The name reiterates our far-reaching economic impact by partnering with Savanna Expeditions, a Botswana citizen-owned company, and our shared commitment to sustainable development. The original lodge’s footprint and capacity will remain, thus reducing the impact of additional rooms being built in the Okavango Delta.

SEDIBA SA RONA HIGHLIGHTS:

Tucked between the Okavango Delta‘s eastern fan and bordering Moremi Game Reserve, Sediba Sa Rona is primely situated in a meeting point of iconic ecosystems that merge into a vital wildlife corridor. The lodge lives beneath a canopy of leadwood and fig trees and overlooks the Khwai River. Expect a masterpiece of modern finishes, natural materials, and striking special features that blend beautifully with the natural environment.

Key Lodge Facilities:

  • Capacity & Accommodation: 15 Luxury Tents, one of which is a two-bedroom Luxury Family Tent, accommodating 30 guests in total. All Luxury Tents have en suite bathrooms and private decks with views of the Khwai River.
  • Main Lodge Facilities: The main areas comprise a swimming pool, open-air fire deck, elevated viewing platforms, a bar and various al fresco dining spaces. There will be a spa (offering various professional therapeutic/wellness treatments) and a curio shop.

With its unbeatable location and visionary rebuild, the lodge is destined to be extremely popular with safari travellers.

KHWAI CONCESSION HIGHLIGHTS:

The Khwai Concession is a vital ecological hub where every season unveils something new. It flourishes with its unique mix of landscapes and is abundant with wildlife, including big cats (lions, leopards, cheetahs), wild dogs, plains game, and an impressive variety of birds that are drawn to the lodge’s backyard to drink from the Khwai River.

Key Lodge Activities:

  • Game Drives: Twice daily game drives (morning and afternoon). Plus, occasional walks from the game vehicle (walks depend on environmental conditions vetted by our expert guides).
  • Night Drives: Night game drives in the concession (available on request, either in place of or in addition to afternoon journeys).
  • Day Trips: Optional day trips into Moremi Game Reserve are available on request (strictly no night drives in Moremi Game Reserve).
  • Mokoro Journeys: Mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) expeditions on the Khwai River.
  • Birding: Bird watching is epic (with over 400 feathered species to see).
  • Helicopter Flights: Scenic helicopter flights for a perspective of Khwai from above (surcharges apply).

For guests with special interests and/or specific safari goals, we recommend our Specialist Guiding services and Epic Experiences itineraries.
