Ker & Downey Botswana has announced the opening of Kanana Nyana, an intimate new luxury safari camp overlooking the Xudum River in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, welcoming guests from October 2026.
Africa’s Eden member Ker & Downey Botswana has announced the opening of its newest luxury safari camp, Kanana Nyana, set to welcome guests from 15 October 2026 in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.
Located in one of the Delta’s most productive wildlife areas bordering the iconic Moremi Game Reserve, the camp represents a refined evolution of Ker & Downey Botswana’s legacy of intimate, design-led safari experiences.
Kanana Nyana has been conceived as a contemporary expression of thoughtful safari design, rooted deeply in Botswana’s landscapes and natural materials. Elevated above the surrounding floodplains and overlooking the Xudum River, the camp blends architectural elegance with immersive wilderness views across one of Africa’s most celebrated ecosystems.
The name Kanana Nyana draws from the Setswana word nyana, meaning “small”, reflecting the camp’s intentionally intimate scale.
The property will feature four individually styled thatched safari suites, accommodating a maximum of eight guests, ensuring a highly exclusive and personalised safari experience. Each suite will include a private plunge pool and décor inspired by the surrounding Okavango landscape.
The design draws from the Delta’s distinctive colour palette, with soft sage greens, pale yellows and dusty pink tones layered with natural textures. Each suite also pays tribute to iconic regional trees including the Marula, Sausage Tree, Ebony and Mokolwane Palm.
Central guest areas will include expansive lounge, bar and dining spaces arranged in distinct areas, creating a relaxed environment where guests can enjoy sweeping views over waterways and floodplains. The camp will also feature wellness offerings, including in-room treatments and a small gym.
Positioned within a highly productive wildlife area of the Okavango Delta, Kanana Nyana will offer guests access to exceptional game viewing alongside Ker & Downey Botswana’s hallmark guiding expertise.
Two safari vehicles will operate at the camp, ensuring a high guide-to-guest ratio and maintaining the intimate atmosphere that defines the Ker & Downey Botswana experience.
Seasonal rates are expected to range from US$1,250 to US$2,480 per person per night, reflecting the camp’s premium positioning within the operator’s collection of luxury safari properties.
