Livingstone to Host Prestigious Wildlife Art and Birding Events

Zambia’s Third Annual Wildlife Art Exhibition (AWAE3) and Fourth Annual Southern Zambia Birding Festival (ASZBF4) are set to captivate visitors in July 2025, celebrating the country’s rich biodiversity through art, conservation, and birdwatching. 

Curated by renowned art specialist Quentin Allen, AWAE3 will open at the National Art Gallery in Livingstone on 21 July 2025, running for three months. Meanwhile, ASZBF4, a must-attend event for birding enthusiasts, will take place from 20 to 31 July 2025, offering a lineup of engaging and educational activities. 

Both events are proudly supported by platinum co-sponsors BEEFCO and BHL. 

Call for Artist Submissions

Artists are invited to submit their wildlife-inspired works for consideration under the following conditions: 

  • Submission deadline: 1 June 2025 
  • Each artist may submit up to two pieces 
  • Works must be clearly related to Zambia’s wildlife and conservation 
  • High-quality photographs of submissions, along with title, dimensions, and sale price, should be sent via email or WhatsApp to Quentin Allen (quentin.s.allen@gmail.com, +260979602032) 
  • Accepted works must be delivered to either Lusaka or the National Art Gallery in Livingstone by 10 July 2025 
  • The National Art Gallery will levy a 25% commission on any sales 
  • Sold pieces must remain on display until the exhibition ends unless purchased by an international visitor departing Zambia before 20 October 2025

The Fourth Annual Southern Zambia Birding Festival (ASZBF4) runs from 20-31 July 2025, featuring an exciting lineup of free events, with some restrictions on numbers.

  • Opening Ceremony (20 July 2025) – The festival is expected to open in Choma, with plans to expand activities to Siavonga. 
  • Wildlife Art Exhibition (AWAE3) Grand Opening (21 July 2025) – Official opening at the National ArtGallery, Livingstone. 
  • Bob Stjernstedt Memorial Lecture (21 July 2025) – Held after AWAE3’s opening at the Gallery.
