Kanana Camp

Tucked away in the southwestern reaches of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, the newly transformed Kanana Camp has reopened, welcoming guests back to an exclusive wilderness escape along the Xudum River. Operated by Ker & Downey Botswana, the camp has undergone an inspired redesign that blends barefoot luxury with an authentic connection to one of Africa’s most iconic ecosystems. 

Positioned within a private concession, Kanana is surrounded by a captivating mosaic of palm-fringed islands, rich riverine forests, meandering channels, and open floodplains—an ecological paradise that supports a dazzling variety of wildlife and birdlife.

A Camp Reimagined

The main guest areas have been thoughtfully redesigned to reflect the beauty of the Delta, using a natural palette that evokes the land itself—earthy tones, riverine greens, and delicate touches inspired by the region’s renowned heronry. Indoors and out, guests are enveloped in comfort: from serene lounges and an inviting swimming pool with floodplain views to an expansive outdoor fireplace perfect for sharing stories under the stars. A new live cooking station and wood-fired pizza oven bring a communal, interactive energy to mealtimes, adding flavour to every stay.
The camp offers seven spacious tented suites and a two-bedroom family unit, each with uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness. Designed with refined simplicity, each suite includes a coffee station, minibar, work area, and ample charging points. The ensuite bathrooms feature one-way glass showers that invite in the views while maintaining total privacy—so guests never miss a moment of Delta magic.

Under the design leadership of Cate Simpson of Reflecting Africa, the new Kanana balances natural materials like thatch and canvas with modern elegance. Every detail encourages guests to stay connected to the rhythm of the wild.
