The aircraft is scheduled to enter service on 1 August 2026, operating primarily on the Harare–Johannesburg and Victoria Falls–Johannesburg routes to meet increased demand during the peak travel season.

The temporary deployment forms part of the airline’s broader fleet development strategy, allowing fastjet Zimbabwe to evaluate the Airbus A320 as a potential permanent addition to its fleet from 2027.

According to Donahue Cortes, Business Chief Executive and Country Head of fastjet Zimbabwe, the additional aircraft will help the airline accommodate higher passenger volumes while maintaining the reliability and service standards customers have come to expect.

If the trial proves successful, the Airbus A320 could become a permanent feature of the airline’s Zimbabwe operations, supporting future growth and strengthening regional air connectivity.

For the travel trade, the increased capacity is welcome news, providing more seats during one of Southern Africa’s busiest travel periods and improving access to two of the region’s key tourism gateways. Enhanced connectivity between Zimbabwe and South Africa continues to play an important role in supporting multi-destination itineraries and making travel throughout the Africa’s Eden region even more accessible.
