Midgard began as a farm built by the Carl List family, and that pioneering history still shapes the place. Guests feel it in the old stone buildings, the amphitheatre, and the sense that this was a working estate long before it became a retreat. Today it belongs to the O&L Leisure family, and the focus is on rest, good food, and time spent outdoors.

Accommodation covers 84 en suite rooms. There is one Presidential Suite, nine Junior Suites, nine Family Rooms, and 65 Standard Rooms, ten of them interleading for larger groups. Every room has a shower or bath, television, room safe, stocked mini bar, hairdryer, tea and coffee facilities, a work desk, and either a balcony or terrace. Internet is available throughout.

Food leans on fresh produce from the estate gardens and dishes rooted in Namibian cooking. The Barn is the main restaurant, serving buffet and à la carte options in a relaxed, welcoming setting. The Pumphouse Bar is the place for a drink and easy conversation. For something more distinctive, the Bali Boma is a thatched venue with an open fire and a dance floor, well suited to weddings, conferences, and team gatherings.

There is plenty to do without leaving the property. The Health and Wellness centre houses a spa and a fully equipped gym. Guided game drives run at sunrise, sundown, and after dark, giving guests the chance to see Namibian wildlife across the estate. The Otjihavera Mountains reward a climb, with viewpoints at God’s Window and the Hilltop lookout. Nature trails and horseback riding cover the quieter side of the farm, while bike trails and four wheel drive routes suit anyone after more adventure.

Families and groups are well looked after. Sven’s Kegelbahn is a traditional German skittle alley, and there are tennis courts, an outdoor chessboard, and Loki’s Play Park for children. The historic amphitheatre also serves as a striking setting for concerts and weddings.

Midgard works on several levels at once. It is a weekend escape for families from Windhoek, a first or last night for travellers moving through Namibia, and a capable venue for meetings, events, and weddings. What ties it together is space, quiet, and a landscape that does most of the work on its own.
