Airlink Expands Regional Connectivity with New Route to Nacala, Mozambique

Johannesburg, 30 October 2025 – Airlink has announced the addition of Nacala to its growing Mozambican network, strengthening regional air connectivity across Southern Africa. The new service, launching in February 2026, further enhances access between South Africa and Mozambique’s northern coastline which is a key step in enabling multi-country travel across the Africa’s Eden region.

From 2 February 2026, Airlink will operate twice-weekly return flights between Johannesburg (JNB) and Nacala (MNC) on Mondays and Fridays, using its modern Embraer regional jets. The route complements Airlink’s existing services to Maputo, Beira, Pemba, Tete, Vilanculos and Nampula, reinforcing the airline’s position as a vital connector across the region.

“By adding Nacala to our network, Airlink is able to provide additional vital connectivity for business and leisure travellers to and from Mozambique’s economically-important north-eastern region, complementing our current services to Nampula,” said Airlink CEO, De Villiers Engelbrecht.

The new route will depart Johannesburg at 10:30 and arrive in Nacala at 13:10, returning from Nacala at 13:45 to reach Johannesburg at 16:35. Bookings are available via the Airlink website mobile app, or through travel agents.

Airlink now operates 64 return flights a week to Mozambique, providing seamless connections across its regional network and to long-haul services offered by its global airline partners.

“Expanding regional air access is essential for the growth of Southern Africa’s tourism sector,” said Jillian Blackbeard, CEO of Africa’s Eden Tourism Association.

“Airlink’s new service to Nacala not only strengthens connectivity within Mozambique but also supports the wider vision of a seamlessly linked region, where travellers can easily combine destinations across our eight member countries.”

Airlink continues to play an instrumental role in advancing the Africa’s Eden mission by creating easier, more efficient travel routes that foster collaboration, tourism development, and sustainable growth across the subcontinent.
