With just the 5 luxury Tented Suites, including 1 x spacious 2-bedroomed Family Suite, Chikunto Safaris is an independent, boutique Ecolodge that is closely entwined with the local community and committed to delivering life-changing experiences for its guests and to making a tangible difference to the lives of both the local wildlife and the local communities.

Chikunto Safaris manages to combine the best elements of being a Lodge with those of being a Camp – delivering an authentic African ‘bush’ experience whilst at the same time underpinning it with a high level of discrete luxury, as evidenced by the unique saltwater counter-current swimming pool, complete with views directly out to the new waterhole.

One of the Deluxe Suites has a private walkway to an amazing new elevated (6 metres high) sleep out & stargazing platform. This opened in 2022, providing clients with stunning views out over the Luangwa River and the opportunity to have a private sundowner and dinner on the raised deck before falling asleep looking up at the stars, listening to the sounds of the bush. Truly an experience that will deliver memories that will last a lifetime.

The Camp / Lodge is ideally located, being easily accessible from the regional Airport at Mfuwe whilst at the same time being away from slightly busier Mfuwe Central area of the National Park –providing easy access to the more remote northern sector, with the Nsefu Sector, Ebony Forest and the Hot Springs being major attractions.

The South Luangwa National Park is sometimes referred to as ‘The Home of the Walking Safari’, with a walking safari element being an important option for the guests.

Zambia is recognised as having some of the very best Safari Guides in the whole of Africa, and Chikunto is blessed to have some of The Valley’s best and most experienced Guides, who combine their encyclopaedic knowledge and understanding of the bush with an innate ability to understand people and to create meaningful relationships with the guests.
