African Monarch Lodges loves to delight guests with a surprise picnic on an isolated island under a cool canopy of mighty Camelthorn trees. There’s nothing as heartwarming as seeing a couple’s ecstatic reaction upon the first glimpse of the picnic blanket. Nambwa Tented Lodge adorns every fresh and colourful organic spread from their kitchen, complimented by fresh juice and the obligatory chilled bottle of sparkling wine.
But wait…there is more to come for this happy couple! The afternoon game drive sets out as the shadows begin to lengthen. The professional guide, Beavan, is excited to share his knowledge of the many birds, animals, and even insects in Bwabwata National Park. Expect to stop at Horseshoe Bend, a large meander in the river, as the sun begins to set. The sounds of the bush are interrupted by a deep, low rumbling, and a large herd of elephants appear as if from nowhere and rush to the water’s edge to quench their thirst. As the sun sets, the scent of freshly made popcorn adds to the couple’s rapture as they raise a glass and join the elephants in quenching their thirst.
Slowly as the last rays colour the sky, we return to our luxurious tented suite in the tree tops where candlelight, wine, and a relaxing bath await us. This is what a perfect day in Africa looks like.
