Chobe River Lodge: A New Name and A Modern Revamp
If you walk into Chobe River Lodge, you won’t be the first person that does a double-take. What was once Garden Lodge, a down-to-earth, rustic safari lodge, has been transformed over the last two years into a modern water-side boutique hotel worthy of its four-star status.
Chobe River Lodge is in the heart of Kasane town, Botswana and neighbours The Old House B&B. The urban location is ideal for those that prefer the freedom to walk to markets, shops and restaurants in Kasane yet be close to the action in Chobe National Park.
However, once you walk through the front door and meander down the exquisitely long corridor, any thoughts of urbanisation are left behind. The entire lounge area, dining room, raised infinity pool, deck, and lush gardens overlook the Chobe River. In fact, the expansive lawns and fabulous view are about the only remaining element of the original Garden Lodge.
Chobe River Lodge boasts twelve large rooms, so you can be assured personalised care and attention to detail. Six rooms face the Chobe River, as well as one family room with each having ample space for relaxing with a book and enjoying the view. The other five rooms view the courtyard and include a sleeper couch for children or a third adult. Each contemporary room has:
- Two twin or one king-sized bed
- Air conditioning
- Bathroom with rainfall shower
- Tea and coffee station
- Digital safe
Foodies take note – Chobe River Lodge is worth booking a room just to access their menu! Exclusively catering for in-house guests, you are guaranteed a gastronomic experience rarely found anywhere in Africa.
If the three-course dinner doesn’t overwhelm the senses, you’ll be talking about ‘that breakfast’ for weeks to come. Far from your typical safari spread, meals focus on elevating flavours, pairing delicious wine and wowing the senses. Little travellers are also catered for with a separate children’s menu.
It is obvious that a significant degree of thought and care went into choosing the art pieces showcased at Chobe River Lodge. Unpretentious yet boldly simple, the artwork dotted from the front door to the rooms reflects the natural elements of the Chobe region. Rest assured that you will be taking photos of the décor in hopes of recreating the look once returning home from your travels.
Chobe River Lodge has a private jetty enabling clients to meander directly from their room down to an awaiting Chobe River cruise. Lodge guests can enjoy game drive and cruise options, including half-day or full-day activities or private excursions.
